Grandma's Jones' Sugar Cookies
Grandma Jones’ Sugar Cookies
¼ c. granulated sugar
½ c. powdered sugar
½ c. butter (softened)
½ c. oil
1 egg
½ t baking soda
½ t vanilla
½ t salt
½ t cream of tartar
2 c + 2 T flour
Sift dry ingredients; cream sugars, butter and oil. Add egg, add dry ingredients. Drop by spoonful onto ungreased baking sheet
and flatten with glass dipped in granulated sugar. Bake at 350º until lightly browned – around 5-8
minutes.
Notes: If the dough seems too wet after you’ve mixed it,
place in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. If your kitchen is warm, you
may have to keep the dough in the fridge
between batches. When you flatten the cookies, make sure that you REALLY
flatten them – until you can almost see through them. You’ll have to dip the
glass into your sugar a couple of times per cookie.
Enjoy!
